Making Sure Your Website Is Browser Friendly
09/11/09
The internet is more than Internet Explorer friendly. Are your potential customers seeing what you want them to see when they visit your website? There are many different browsers that a potential customer can use to visit your website. With the popularity of mobile devices and their browsers, some of these customers are seeing your sites with minimal screen “real estate”. Couple this with the fact that monitors and screen resolutions are getting bigger and better, and you have a group of people at the extremes of viewing your site.
The best way to make sure your site is optimized for viewing in all circumstances is to test it out for yourself. Web browsers are generally free and available for download on the internet. Download the different browsers including: Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari, Opera, and Google Chrome. Take a look at your site using each of the browsers and make sure you are seeing what you want your potential customers to see. Also, use your mobile device’s web browser and see if there are any major issues that are causing problems on that platform. In many cases, browser incompatibility can be a minor issue that can be resolved with minimal cost to you. The key is . . . you can’t fix a problem that you don’t know about. So take the time and check out your site to see if it plays friendly in the web browser sandbox.
